Biography
Lei Fu received his B.S. degree in chemistry from Wuhan University in 2001. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2006. After obtaining his Ph.D., he worked as a Director's Postdoctoral Fellow at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM (2006–2007). Thereafter, he became an associate professor at Peking University. In 2012, he joined Wuhan University as a full professor. He developed the liquid metal growth system to manufacture advanced materials with atomic precision.
Research
Prof. Lei Fu mainly focuses on the atomic fabrication via liquid metal reactive system. He has achieved the precise synthesis of two-dimensional materials and high-entropy alloy toward the emerging applications of biomedicine, electric devices, and energy conversion and storage. He has published more than 200 scientific papers in peer refereed journals as the corresponding author, such as Nature and Nat. Mater. He has written two academic books, "Liquid Metals: Properties, Mechanisms, and Applications" (Wiley, 2022) and "Synchrotron Radiation: From Discovery to Scientific Application" (Science Press, 2022).
He is the member of the editorial board of several journals, including National Science Review, Science China Materials, 2D Materials, Chinese Science Bulletin, etc. He has obtained the support from many funds, including Outstanding Young Investigator and Excellent Young Investigator from National Natural Science Foundation, Sino-German Cooperative Project, etc. He has also received many awards, including Changjiang Scholars (Young Scholars) from Ministry of Education, Outstanding Young Scientists Award from Chinese Chemical Society, First Prize of the Natural Science Award from Hubei Province, etc.
