Malignant tumors are a serious health challenge in China, widely distributed and highly lethal. More than 2.5 million people are diagnosed with cancer each year, with over 1.4 million losing their lives as a result, making cancer one of the major diseases that pose a serious threat to national health. Although significant progress has been made in the field of tumor biology in recent years, there is still room for breakthroughs in the mechanisms of cancer occurrence, development, and metastasis, as well as research on anti-tumor therapy. Taikang Life Medicine Center will continue to attract world-class oncobiologists, strengthen collaboration between research bases and teams, collaborate with various affiliated hospitals of Wuhan University, promote the close integration of basic research and clinical diagnosis and treatment, and actively cooperate with the medical field to achieve the transformation of research results.

The center is currently actively conducting research in the following areas:

1. Conduct in-depth research on the characteristics and laws of tumor biology, explore the mechanisms of tumor genomics and epigenetics in the occurrence, development, and metastasis of cancer, and identify key therapeutic targets.

2. Analyze the tumor microenvironment and immune escape function, study the function, regulatory mechanism, and therapeutic response heterogeneity of immune checkpoint molecules in different immune cells or non cellular carriers, and explore immunotherapy strategies targeting the tumor microenvironment.

3. Clarify the regulatory mechanism of tumor metabolic microenvironment on cancer and immune cell function, and discover new stem pre targets based on regulating tumor metabolic microenvironment to achieve inhibition of cancer and recovery of immune cell function.

4. Develop tumor diagnosis, efficacy evaluation, and prognosis determination methods based on molecular functional visualization, clarify the biological characteristics and malignant attributes of different stages of cancer, and integrate imaging, pathology, and omics into diagnosis.

5. Conduct molecular epidemiological research on tumors, combine population studies and functional genomics systematic analysis, study the genetic mechanisms of cancer susceptibility, and construct gene environment and gene gene interaction models.
